How to Halt the Train of Aging
by erik kellum - Monday, 12 May 2008, 08:19 PM
Anyone in the world

By Tonya Zavasta Aging would not be so bad if it did not tell on us at every encounter. As we hug one another, we register the love handles on the other's waist, the flab on their arms and the sag on their cheeks. We stare into each other's faces. After all, only saints find no pleasure in the wrinkles of their peers. We are not inexcusable sinners; we are checking to see how well we are holding up. Estimating someone's age and deciding how well that person has aged tells us a lot. Looking and feeling younger than chronological age has increasingly becomes a yardstick of success. Preoccupation with age is a reality for our rapidly aging society. It is part of our resume and every bit as important as our employment records. We may be justified in our dismay at aging, even scientists are puzzled by the purposelessness of the process. Every biological event in the human body, from conception to puberty to maturity, has a purpose except aging. Aging makes no sense. Scientists are baffled as to why mammals have much shorter life spans than more primitive species. We dont live nearly as long as the Galapagos turtle but we usually wind up looking like one. Nowadays, researchers hunt for the gene that causes aging. If they find it, they will look for a pill to disable it, as though it were a virus. They face an appalling task. A cell, the simplest form of life, is more complex than Mexico City, the largest city in the world. No one gene or any one hormone is responsible for health and youth. It is the ideal work of all the cells and organs functioning together in complete harmony to prevent the breakdown of the body. What makes us think we can think stop aging just by turning a switch in the body? The signs of deterioration that we consider the signs of aging are the result of waste overload on the cellular level. When our actions are in opposition to nature, the results are different types of bodily ills, deformities, and ugliness. Eating denatured and devitalized food leaves residues the body cannot utilize, and they are deposited in places our Creator never intended. Whatever the body cannot use, becomes toxic accumulations that steal our health and our youth. Body acids enter in chemical reactions with waste products causing calcification of the soft tissue. Now tissues of vital organs and glands become burdened with mineral salts and crystalline deposits. Overloaded with waste, they not only can no longer function normally but also become more responsive to gravitys pull. As every tissue elongates and sags, drooping jowls and sagging cheeks begin to drape on both sides of the mouth, and the eyebrows begin to hang over the eyes. External deformities are direct manifestations of internal pathologies. Ugly ropes of varicose veins, puffy faces, and cellulite are telling tales about your inside condition. Every pimple, psoriasis, or pigment change on your skin is in fact a reflection of some organ struggling to do its job. Every bulge, boil, or swelling is a sign that the body is pushing out some toxins in its effort to protect itself. Most of us feel our appearance lacks something. In reality, ugliness is more about excess. Toxic accumulations in our bodies are responsible for stealing our health and attractiveness. Beauty lies latent under cushions of retained fluids, deposits of fat, and sick tissues. Your beauty is buried alive, but in most cases it can be revived in a version that will be satisfactory to you. You must take immediate action to revitalize it. When you do, your uncovered beauty will surprise and delight you Some physical characteristics of our face and body we cannot change--they were determined prior to our birth. But the consumption of the raw plant diet as an adult will make a difference in the texture of skin and hair, the health of nails, weight and complexion. All of these traits and more are determined by daily choices, with food being one of the most important and, luckily, the one we can fully control. Since there can be no natural health without eating 100 percent natural food, most of people have never explored optimum health. In my book Your Right to Be Beautiful, I advocate a diet made up solely of raw fruits, vegetables, nuts and seedsRawsome Diet. No, you will not be asked to graze the garden, dig up the squirrels nuts or dine out on the birdfeeder, but you will be introduced to an unexplored world of preparation techniques that allow you to create not only the most nutritious meals, but also dishes that are delicious, filling and satisfying. Some raw food recipes even mimic traditional cuisine and make the transition to the Rawsome diet easier. There are 100s of different kinds of fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds with a variety of tastes and flavors, which awakened taste buds will begin to appreciate. If you combine only two or three ingredients at each meal, then the number of dish combinations is endless. The ability to renew cells is built into your body, and the body itself is capable of making you look more attractive. After all, we were designed to bloom continuously as old cells get replaced by new ones. The Rawsome diet makes the most of this rejuvenating ability of our bodies. Rawsome beauty is not manufactured from the outside but cultivated from the inside by nutritionally charged food. Whole raw food restores the integrity of every cell and facilitates the optimal operation of every organ inside and out. The body, having been awakened by the improved diet, in its wisdom, will reach out to the places where health was lacking, and you will gradually see your beauty surfacing. The Rawsome diet will eliminate all the toxins on a deeper level and bring amazing changes to your appearance. Only the body sustained on raw food will host natural beauty, or should we say Rawsome beauty. The body becomes transcended and will unfold from the inside out. While your non-raw eating peers discover new blemishes, blotches, and moles on a nearly daily basis, you will see your own skin irregularities gradually fade or disappear. Feeding your body raw food will make eyes, once sunken in bulbous flesh, look larger and more round by eliminating the surrounding puffiness and by firming the eyelids. Eyebrows that were beginning to form an awning over the eyes will regain their youthful arch. As natural collagen production improves, it will fill in the places where it is needed as in hollow cheeks. It will not just patch your face, but every one of your 3,000 square inches of skin will improve. The landscape of the body will change. The surface of the skin will become soft and smooth but still firm and supple. Visible pores will diminish. A sallow skin with a yellow pallor will turn into a porcelain-like complexion. The whites of eyes, once red, will become bright with a bluish tinge. Raw food eating will clarify and refine your features and bring delicacy to your face. People who have been on the raw food lifestyle for several years begin to have a glow, the kind not often seen in middle-aged people. Optimal health is recognized by an emerging radiance. Glow is hard to fake because it is internal. It comes from an abundance of clear, pink, almost transparent cells that light up the face. Only superior blood circulation can bring this transfiguring glow. Several years on the raw food diet will make you look as though you just stepped out of a painting by Renoir--the impressionist best known for his preoccupation with light. Colette, Frances greatest woman writer, once wrote: The fear of aging, a commonplace neurosis, does not usually wait for age and spares neither sex. But aging is full of mercy towards people on the raw food diet. This diet will allow you to ripen, not to decay. Beauty does not have to erode or disappear with age. You will be lithe and limber and keep your loveliness for a long time. It is like winning the Jack Pot in the Age Game. You become age-proof. When you discover The Most Beautiful You, old age will lose its sting, and you will have victory over the ravages of time. Even on the 100 percent raw food diet, no one lives forever. For individuals who follow this diet for many years, aging comes a week or two before death. Deterioration takes place rapidly. Perennial youth is a perpetual dream. The raw food lifestyle is the closest anyone can come to reaching the maximum life span with the quality of life intact. The diet allows the body to mature gracefully. It produces an alliance of character and health. The Rawsome Diet allows everyone to live as long as God intended and look as God envisioned. Contracts that Work - So Sue Me!
by erik kellum - Sunday, 4 May 2008, 04:39 PM
Anyone in the world

By Tom Hall While music to a lawyers ears, at least to his wallet, this phrase should make every business person cringe. Litigation absorbs time and money, often astonishing amounts of both. Worse, it signals a major breach in what is presumably a valuable relationship. Worst of all, it means the business problem the contract was meant to address has not been solved. Instead of one problem and a plan to resolve it, you now have two, neither of which will add to your bottom line. Avoiding such a situation requires time, thought and some effort, but all are a worthwhile investment if they produce a transaction that moves forward smoothly and efficiently. Lets explore some of the common causes of deal failure: The vendor is dishonest. (Customers may also be dishonest, but that raises issues outside the scope of this essay.) In some ways, this situation is the easiest to deal with. The more blatant the vendors misconduct, the easier it is to pull the plug and look for an alternative vendor. Time and money will still be lost, but the customer who acts promptly will at least limit his or her losses. If the vendor is dishonest, but conceals it well, is incompetent yet earnest, customer may attempt to nurse the project along, allowing losses to mount. (Of course, a vendor who is honest but in over his head may eventually admit the fact and negotiate a buy out, thereby avoiding the need for either side to proclaim So Sue Me.) Happily, genuine vendor dishonesty is relatively rare. More frequently the parties have almost complete power to avoid contractual disputes simply by negotiating and documenting their agreements thoroughly. That requires time and effort, and it requires each side to leave their comfort zone and ask What will happen if things go wrong. That question is contrary to the mindset deemed necessary to do the deal. Negotiators are trained to be positive, to get to yes and NOT to rock the boat. But really making sure that the deal will work requires recognition that things can, and probably will, go wrong. Problems fall into two general categories: the unforeseen and the unforeseeable. A good contract goes to great lengths to eliminate the unforeseen, and provides mechanisms to deal with the unforeseeable. The unforeseen is simply a polite name for the overlooked. Overlooking a key condition or a vital contingency is not a career enhancing exercise. While there are no sure and certain guarantees against oversights, there are safeguards that can substantially reduce the exposure: Take your time. Easier said than done in a world in which everything is needed yesterday. But which is more damaging a delay to get the project right or damage control when the project comes apart? Consider what a commitment to first at all costs did for General Custer. Do your homework. o What needs to be done?
o When?
o By whom?
o What contingencies must be addressed?
o HOW will they be addressed (and by whom)?
o Which project/product features are must haves?
o Are there key personnel who need to be identified?
o Are there target dates?
o Which of the targets are guideposts and which are central to successful completion?
o If there are no target dates, why not? After all, time is money.
o What is the business problem you are attempting to solve?
o What are your standards for success? If you are not solving a specific and defined business problem, or meeting a specific need, why are you spending time and money on the project? If you cannot identify what will constitute success, why are you spending time and money on the project? This brings us back to take your time. If the project is so rushed that its fundamental goals have not been defined, trouble may not be far off. Play Devils advocate. o WILL this project solve the specified business problem?
o What CAN go wrong?
o How will you respond when things do go wrong? It is tempting to cut corners at this time. Planning to respond to problems is hard work. But failing to put in the necessary effort will simply invite one side or the other to proclaim, at the worst possible time: So sue me! Even the most thorough and searching project plan cannot anticipate all problems. Key personnel may leave abruptly. A third partys product may not arrive on time, or may not work as promised. Management may cut the budget. Business changes may render the project unnecessary, or may require substantial revisions. Enter the change control provisions, which can serve a number of useful purposes: Eliminate time wasted on finger-pointing Eliminate (or at least reduce) the possibility of one side taking undue advantage of the other Keeping the deal alive. But did you include change control provisions in the contract? Did you specify: Who will respond when problems arise?
Who is authorized to amend the agreement?
A problem escalation procedure?
A dispute resolution procedure?
Cost controls?
Specific buy-out or exit mechanisms? Hard work? Yes.
Boring work? Sometimes.
Valuable work? Would you rather manage a portfolio of projects that run more or less smoothly and contribute to the bottom line or would you rather spend your days putting out fires? Managing the Hobby Greenhouse
by erik kellum - Friday, 2 May 2008, 05:49 AM
Anyone in the world

By Philip Swindells The successful management of a hobby greenhouse depends upon following simple rules regularly and applying common sense. A greenhouse is a responsibility rather like a dog or cat, for no day goes by without its inhabitants demanding some attention. Regular watering may seem obvious, but it is surprising how many gardeners water when they have to, to the detriment of the plants. Good stable growth can never be achieved by irregular watering. A humid atmosphere is beneficial, especially during the summer months. Regular spraying of the path and gravel under the benches helps. Avoid getting water on the foliage of plants during hot sunny weather. The droplets of water serve as small magnifying glasses during bright sunshine and the leaf tissue beneath becomes scorched. During the late spring and peak summer period the greenhouse must be provided with some kind of shading. Roller blinds are expensive, but very effective, although most of the sun shade products that are mixed with water and applied with a brush are equally functional, if not as visually pleasing. Ventilation should be applied freely during warm weather and moderately during cooler periods. The free circulation of air amongst plants helps to reduce the incidence of common fungal diseases like botrytis. During the duller days of winter and early spring ensure that maximum light is admitted to the greenhouse. Clean the glass in the fall and then again during early spring. Cleanliness is important in all parts of the structure if pests and diseases are to be successfully controlled. The thorough cleaning of the rafters, brickwork and other fixtures during the winter with a strong garden disinfectant will pay dividends. Dead leaves and discarded plants should be disposed of regularly and should not be allowed to accumulate beneath the staging where they will harbor pests and diseases. Regular cleaning and maintenance results in healthy plants and a trouble-free structure in which to produce them. One of the on-going activities in a well managed greenhouse is re-potting. This applies to all permanent plants and those that are growing on and need periodic removal to a larger pot size. Some flowering plants like pot chrysanthemums and primulas are completely exhausted after flowering and are best discarded rather than re-potted. They rarely regain their former glory. Re-potting often causes some consternation, particularly to new gardeners, for there is believed to be a certain mystique surrounding the operation and an uncertainty as to when to perform it. It is obviously better to re-pot a plant just before it needs it, but the beginner may have difficulty in recognizing just when that is, so plants are often allowed to go beyond that point and start to deteriorate. Paleness of foliage and gaunt appearance is the overall aspect of a plant that is in need of re-potting. The pot-ball will be hard and congested, often with roots pushing out through the drainage holes of the pot. The compost surface will also probably have a stale look about it heightened by the presence of mosses or liverworts. When re-potted, pot-bound plants rapidly recover from their ordeal, but it is better to catch them before they go into decline so that strong healthy growth can continue unchecked. During the active growing period do not be frightened to turn a plant out of its pot and inspect the root-ball. There is no need to pull it about, but a regular inspection will indicate whether everything is in good order. Do not pay too much regard to the concentrated presence of roots towards the sides of the pot, for it is quite natural for them to gravitate there. It is not necessarily an indication that the plant must be re-potted. Similarly roots that push through the drainage holes may not always indicate congestion within the pot, for if the pot has been stood on a gravel tray in moist conditions it is quite normal for roots to probe around outside. The best way to tell whether a plant needs re-potting is to pinch the root-ball with your fingers. If there is any flexibility in the compost it shows that the pot-ball has not been completely ramified by roots and therefore nothing need yet be done. If the root-ball feels hard and solid, then re-potting is clearly a matter of priority. Re-potting is also necessary if you spot tiny flies jumping around on the surface of the compost. These are feeding on decomposing organic matter in a compost that has passed its useful life. They disappear immediately after re-potting. Most greenhouse plants need feeding if they are to give of their best. This is most effective when they are in active growth, either immediately after they have started to sprout or following the formation of flower buds. The feeding program is different for individual plant types, but the exact rates that should be used will be found on the containers of modern proprietary plant foods. The levels of nitrate, phosphate and potash are also noted, so that a suitable feed can be chosen depending upon whether it is to be directed to fruit and flower production or foliage and root development. It is important to introduce a general spraying program to the greenhouse. Irrespective of the plants being grown, insect pests and fungal diseases will appear. Check carefully that the fungicide and insecticide mix so that you can spray in one go. Instructions will be clearly stated on the package. These will also indicate any plant sensitivity to the product. Systemic pesticides are the only ones that can be used for such a spraying program. These are absorbed by the foliage, taken into the sap stream of the plant and serve as an inoculation. To maintain the protection, spraying will be required every three weeks or so. There are certain pests and diseases that are not controlled effectively by systemic products and these need dealing with individually with contact pesticides. By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Thomas_Morva]Thomas Morva Guaranteed fast cash loans are short-term cash loans, whereby money is deposited into the borrowers accounts within a minimum period of time. As the name says, these loans guarantee a requested amount (usually up to $500) into your checking account with certain conditions. To get guaranteed fast cash loans, a credit check is usually not required. You must be employed, and as part of employment verification, you must show proof of identity, your salary and the status of your employment. Once this is done, the loans are sanctioned within minutes and in most cases, are deposited on the same day. Fast cash loans are short-term loans that provide a means to solve immediate financial difficulties. Individuals who find themselves in a temporary financial crisis, have poor credit ratings or need some extra cash to get by until payday are those who are qualified. Medical expenses and a small debt can be paid immediately or if an unexpected trip comes up youll have the cash to go. Just remember that guaranteed fast cash loans, being an unsecured loan - that is, a loan for which there is no collateral in the case of defaulted payments - carry very high interest rates. You will be charged just as much, or more than, if it were a credit card. So only use these loans when absolutely necessary, and when you are sure you can repay. Guaranteed fast cash loans are available online, with many lenders opening up Internet websites. Online processing of guaranteed fast cash loans is perhaps the easiest method of securing this loan. Bio Hazard Issues For The Collector
by erik kellum - Sunday, 27 April 2008, 06:49 AM
Anyone in the world

By Bill Harvey Of course it depends on what you collect. If rocks and minerals are your thing, you can stop reading now. But what if you collect first edition comic books, or antique doll clothes, or sugar packets? You had best be giving some thought to repellent little crawly things as well as things that don't so much crawl as sort of land on your stuff and reproduce like mad -eating all the while. I must stress, that my advice is rather generic and pragmatic. The chances are that a little research into your specific collectible will provide you with more and perhaps more specifically useful information then you will find here. Also, you might do well to research your specific local for the threats that come with the territory. Mildew: To being with the smallest of threats, (this is to say it's a significant threat, but you'd need a microscope to see it), -let's consider mildew. Mildew is a plant -a fungus actually -like mushrooms. Its like the yeast that makes bread raise and makes less interesting stuff into beer and wine. Not to put too fine a point on it, its also the stuff that grown between you toes if you hang out at disreputable swimming pools. (BTW -Did'ja know that what we think of mushrooms are actually only the sexual part of mass of cell that live in the dirt and may be a ball as much as 10 feet in diameter?) To understand mildew, you need to know that it needs moisture -just like plants and other living things. So the obvious way to protect your collectibles from mildew damage is to keep them dry. When you are done with this article -read up on DESICCANTS -things that suck moisture out of the air. This is perhaps obvious, but what is not so obvious is that dirt also helps mildew get a foothold.* If you collect -let us say- doll clothes, you ought to clean them. If you collect them brand-new -this might not be a problem, but then again.... Turns out that the really elaborate doll clothes are often treated with starch &/or other chemicals that not only nourish mildew -but appeal to some of the larger things like silverfish. So this is why I say keep 'em dry and -if possible- keep 'em clean. Don't make the mistake of thinking that if your collection is not made out of cloth, you are safe! Paper, leather & fur, dried flowers, plants & seeds, stuffed animals, (deer heads & such -not just teddy bears), wood, wicker, photographs, painted surfaces, and a million other things will all support mildew. Think of it this way -if nature made it, or its made out of something that nature made -nature also made something that eats it! This is a good thing. Some scientist once figured out that is it weren't for the ubiquitous little beetle that eats hair -the planet would be about 3 feet deep in hair now. If you have ever shared a home with a good sized dog that sheds -this is not a hard thing to imagine. We will come to the hair-eating bugs shortly. Silverfish & Firebrats: These repellent little insect have been around for 300 million years -cockroaches, for example -only 50 million. (People -in their current style and model -considerably less then a million.) The very shape of their bodies has a primitive look about them. Firebrats like it hotter then silverfish, and are darker in color, but you deal with both the same way. They are a little like mildew in that they need water -but unlike mildew -they can go over there to get water and then wonder back over here to eat your stuff, so the problem is a little more complicated. They also have a slightly more selective diet then mildew -they like starch and starch is what things are glued together with -things like books and wallpaper. Here again -the list of things with starch in them goes on and on. Older things were much more likely to be glued together with starch glue or paste then modern things that are glued with modern -unappetizing- glues. As to dealing with these bugs, you need to take a more holistic approach because of their ability to wonder around to get a drink and what-not. There are a variety of commercial bug sprays that can deal with an infestation well enough and it is likely that a given geographic area will have it's favorite poison. There are also a couple of 'folk-remedies' that might be worth trying and that don't involve harmful poisons. One is to mix borax and flour and leave it out. The bugs sort of over-doses on the flour, the borax bubbles up, and the little f___ers pop!??! I can't say if this approach works or not -but it's fun to imagine repellent little insects moaning "I can't believe I ate that whole thing" and then exploding. Supposed to work on cockroaches too. Kind of like leaving a dish of beer out in the garden to attract snails. Then you are to dispose of drunk snails? How To Get Rid of Stuff.com http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/ sez "Infested books can be sealed in a plastic bag along with some desiccant and placed inside of the freezer for three days to kill any resident silverfish and firebrats. If your book case has become infested, consider spreading some diatomaceous earth behind the books on the shelves to keep the moisture levels down and kill any paper-eating insects that may be hiding out." Here we see moisture as an issue once again. Moths and Hair-eating Beetles: Turns out that its not the moth that actually eats wool. Its the larval stage ugly little bugs. But the moths lay eggs so you need to be aware of both. And it also turns out that they eat wool, fur (and what is wool but sheep fur after?) and feathers. But they dont care for cotton, silk or any synthetic fibers. Silk I understand I suppose silk has already gone through a bug and emerged as its cocoon, but they dont care for cotton? but they eat feathers? Feathers? Not for me to say I guess. So how to keep them out of your collection? By now you may have guessed that keeping things dry is a good first step. I have no idea what the little bugs find to drink while eating your woolen stuff, but they dont do well at all with the relative humidity less then 30%. They also need certain minerals to survive. Human sweat is a wonderful source of these minerals so SURPRISE!- put things away CLEAN. (And remember that dirt and salt are also hydro-scopic. This means that they absorb water from the air so you will not only be giving the repellent bugs a vitamin boost, but a nice drink of water if you put your collectibles away dirty. What about mothballs and the like? These chemicals and there are two main ones moth flakes and moth-balls each a different chemical are ordinarily repellents but can act as poison if the concentrations are high enough. Once they have evaporated, the game starts a-new. Unless you have your collection sealed up very well indeed, you may find that you have a moth problem all over again despite the fact that you used moth stuff and kept things closed up. One species of wool eater can crawl through a hole less then 1 mm wide. You must also read the instructions on the box this stuff comes in. They can dissolve certain plastics like the plastic used to make big boxes to store winter clothes ?!?! In humid conditions, they can also stain fabrics, so put the balls / flakes in a paper folder or envelope. Once the balls or flakes evaporate, the gas can go through almost anything. Like the silverfish above, you can freeze hair-eaters in any stage of their development. Let them become acclimatized to a nice warm place in your house, them pop them in the freezer (set at the coldest setting) for 72 hours and the problem is solved. Till another moth flits by and lays her eggs anyway. Timothy Porter has this to add: "Another product that is a very inexpensive and effective desiccant is diatomaceous earth. This is the same filter powder used in in-ground swimming pools. Made of diatoms, microscopic fossils of ancient sea life, it not only is a great moisture absorbent, but also, because it does not bio-degrade any further than its present state, it irritates and damages the chitinous exoskeletons of all manner of insects, rendering them unable to maintain the necessary internal moisture to survive. DE is commonly used in orchards, spread on the ground, to kill off the nymph stages of most herbivorous insects and to dry out slugs and snails. The Colorado State University has a great article on this subject. Its rather pointed at Colorado and other dry climates, but check out Clothes Moths: Identification and Control in the Home *I once had a sailboat that spent the winter on the water and was closed up and damp. There was a nice clean towel that got left behind and got wet -but didn't have a spec of mildew on it. There was also a vinyl notebook holding instructions and warranties etc. This grew mildew. Not the paper -but the vinyl! Plastic is not supposed to be nutritious to anything I thought, but you could see my hand-prints growing mildew very clearly. Evidently I had been doing something with dirty hands and handling the notebook and the dirt on my hands that stuck to the vinyl was all it took to get mildew started. Online Dating Etiquette
by erik kellum - Monday, 21 April 2008, 08:01 AM
Anyone in the world

By Jason King You can dress how you want, and have your hair how you want but you must have online dating etiquette the moment your fingers touch the keyboard. This is the point where the single on the other end will feel part of the reel you. This is where everything you type will be scrutinized as everything naturally is at an online dating service. So first and foremost you have to be honest from the moment you create your profile. Any little white lies or completely made up stories will get found out eventually. At that point your creditability will go along with your current online date. Singles chat to each other in chat rooms, on message boards and give information in blogs. You dont want to end up as one of their topics. Honesty is attractive no matter how you look at your keyboard. When you first contact someone, say hello with an e-mail. Lots of online dating services have smiles or flirts but you cant beat a personal message. You can mention parts of their profile that have caught your attention, and it shows them that you have actually read their profile. Everyone is inquisitive when they start conversing with someone online but that doesnt mean you should continually ask questions. Dont give other singles a reason to be put off. You need to just let the questions flow with the conversation. Weave them in naturally. If they bring something up that can lead into a question then ask it. Also give some information about yourself as well then other singles will be more willing to let their guard down a bit. Become a good listener. Most people like talking about themselves, and this can lead into you asking a few questions that they will be willing to answer. Plus this shows that youre paying attention, and that can only be in your favor. Never ask questions or make statements that will put your date on the defensive. Subjects like politics and religion should be left alone for quite a while. Leave these topics of conversation till you know someone very well or even wait until you have met them offline. Leave all capital letters and abbreviated sentences out of the conversation. When you use capitals its a form of shouting online, and abbreviated sentences become hard to decipher and annoying. You will probably get a way with the odd smiley so they know when youre joking but dont over do it. Remember this is someone you are trying to impress, and maybe one day have a lasting relationship with. Presentation is everything especially when attracting a partner. Do not come across as eager or desperate. Never push someone into doing anything they dont want to do. You have to respect anyones wishes on the speed in which they want to get to know you. If you find youre in need of changing the way anyone thinks or acts its probably not going to work anyway. Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery - Who Needs It in India?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Alampallam_Venkatachalam] Alampallam Venkatachalam An introduction to arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder Arthros means joint in Greek. The arthroscope is an instrument used by orthopaedic surgeons to look into joints. It is about 8- 10 inches long and is as thick as a pencil. There is a fibre optic lens system which transmits light from a cold light source outside and relays the interior image to a medical television monitor. In other words the arthroscope serves as a camera device to look into structures inside a joint. It is possible to diagnose pathological conditions not seen on X rays and sometimes even on MRI scans. Who needs arthroscopy? a) Rotator cuff tears, partial and complete
b) Recurrent dislocations
c) Frozen shoulder and adhesive capsulitis
d) Calcium deposition
e) Loose bodies
f) Osteoarthritis Advantages As there are no formal large incisions, post operative pain is minimal. Since muscles and tissues are not removed from their origins on bone, again the amount of inflammation is minimal. Recovery can be faster as it is not necessary for muscles to heal back. Cosmetically the procedure is very satisfying. There are no mental scars of open surgery. Return to sport or work is faster, hospital stays are shorter and hence bills are smaller. However arthroscopic equipment is expensive to hire or possess and the surgeon has to recover the cost of dispensable items like shavers, suture anchors. This is offset by enormous patient satisfaction. Arthroscopic surgery by its simple nature provides an opportunity to the orthopaedic surgeon to examine the interior of a joint. After Knee arthroscopy, the shoulder is the joint which is suited for arthroscopic surgery. Other joints are the ankle, wrist and elbow. Indians and Asians in the Gulf get only short spells of leave to spend with their near and dear ones. They would benefit from undergoing Arthroscopic shoulder surgery for shoulder pain as the recovery is shorter. The conditions treated by open surgery earlier are now treatable by arthroscopic surgery with remarkable success. Some hitherto unknown conditions have been diagnosed after the advent of arthroscopic surgery.
Any painful or unstable condition of the shoulder except end stage arthritis can be treated by arthroscopic surgery. Shoulder replacement is not yet possible arthroscopically, but with minimally invasive orthopaedic surgery catching up, that may not be far off. It is certainly possible to introduce prosthesis for fracture fixation through key hole incisions and the same may be extended to joint replacement as well. Arthroscopy can be diagnostic to confirm or make the diagnosis. X rays do not reveal soft tissue pathology and many patients are frustrated when their orthopaedic surgeon dismisses their pain as of no significance just because the X-ray is normal. MRI and ultra sound are useful non invasive investigations but is operator dependent and need good musculo skeletal radiologists to interpret them. Rotator cuff disease, instability, impingement due to bony outgrowths from the clavicle or the acromio clavicular joint can be trimmed arthroscopically. Infections can be drained. Recalcitrant calcium deposits can be needled and a frozen shoulder can be released arthroscopically. SLAP lesions are debrided and reconstructed by this method through small key hole incisions. How is the procedure done? Arthroscopic surgery is an elective or planned surgery. It is done under general anaesthesia. It is done as a day case which means that you may be discharged the same day (Day care or surgery). The instrument is introduced into the joint through small incisions about half centimeter long. Other instruments are also introduced and maneuvered to achieve the therapeutic goal. Advantages As there are no formal large incisions, post operative pain is minimal. Dr. A .K. Quilting Tools Between Tradition And Modernity

Anyone in the world

By Shirley Ambrose Passing through history, quilting had flowering periods and periods of decline, but the true fact is that it remained an art that conquered many hearts by its complexity and beauty, along with its practical purpose. In the beginning, quilts were made out from fabric remains or pieces of fabrics that could no longer be used, but today we use mainly 100% cotton of the best quality, to increase the beauty of the quilt and make it last longer. Quilting means today strong friendships between the people who share this ancient passion. In the United States, quilting has become very popular and it conquers every day new advocates through exhibitions, symposiums and contests organized by the quilting manufacturers or magazines. Here the quilts are a family heritage, passed from one generation to another and have a special sentimental value especially because they were made by dear persons, that no longer are among us, and the new ones are highly appreciated for their beauty and for the hard work the makers put in creating them. Those beautiful works of art require some special tools in order to make them properly. There are tools for the traditional quilters and tools for the contemporary ones. Here is a small discrepancy because traditional quilters, who use hand quilting and the techniques they have learned from their older generations, consider that new quilting machines somehow take away the personality and the unique character of the quilt. They use tools such as rulers for accurate cutting, rotary cutters for cutting the fabric into shapes strips and pieces, needles (preferably no 8 or 9), thread, scissors, a seam ripper to open the wrong stitches, pins and other tools. Today's advanced technologies made quilting machines perfect makers of quilts: high speed in making the quilt, perfect stitches and no sweat at all. The real quilters consider that the true value of a quilt comes from the hard work and devotion of the one making the quilt; it represents the unique character of the person that makes it, and the quilting machines can't do that. Sometimes, little imperfections you find on a quilt tell you about the maker of the quilt, and the traditional quilt makers prefer to hand quilt instead of using a complicated machine. This is not an option for the people who want to make quilters as a business. Mass-production of quilts requires performing machines that can provide a large number of products in a short time and at a high quality level in order to satisfy the customers. The tools they can use are quilting machines, preferably long arm quilting machines. This quilting machine can make smaller quilts or king/ queen size quilts, bed coverings, table coverings and the quality of those products is a high standard one. No matter the tools used in creating the quilts, the final products are meant to please and they can bring back wonderful memories or can simply describe the devotion and the ability of the quilt-maker. So when will you be getting your quilting kit? If you are truly interested in learning more about quilting then you absolutely must visit the Long Arm Quilting Machine Site. The Role of a Public Defender
by erik kellum - Monday, 14 April 2008, 07:47 PM

By Gil Mart Abareta When youve been wrongly accused of a certain crime and been prosecuted, youll certainly need the legal help and assistance of a public defender especially when you cant afford to pay for the legal fees and bills covering the consultations, gathering of evidences, and actual proceedings regarding the case. However, getting a public defender is not that easy. You also have to go through a somewhat-rigorous process. The role of a criminal defense attorney is really complex. He can challenge probable cause for arrest, argue in favor of being released on your own recognizance or on very low bail, negotiate plea bargains with prosecutors, discuss the pros and cons of going to trial, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of pleading guilty instead of going to trial. These things are what a public attorney can offer you when youre in the same circumstances. As what Ive said, getting the service of a public attorney from a public attorneys office is not so simple. You have to go through a careful evaluation of your financial assets, properties, incomes and debts to determine if you are eligible for representation by a public attorney. And, if you cant afford to hire a lawyer from the private legal community, the court will automatically appoint a government-paid lawyer to represent you. Being freed from the payment of your legal fees is not the only advantage in hiring a public defender. With regards to a public defenders capabilities, you can consider him as the perfect knights for justice because he is very efficient at sizing up your case and presenting an acceptable plea bargain deal to the prosecutor and judge. Additionally, he is updated on new laws and legal theories in his area of specialty. As a result, you may be done with the criminal process and on with the rest of your life sooner than if you were represented by a private attorney. Regarding the drawbacks, you have to know that a government-paid lawyer often has a huge overload of cases so he cant devote a lot of time to a certain lawsuit. He also often lacks office equipment and adequate research access, and cant afford to hire investigators to properly flesh out your case. As a result, you may have little or no access to your lawyer except during actual court hearings. With all these, the decision is still left for you to decide on if youll want a public defender to back you up in your case or not. Obesity Surgery
by erik kellum - Friday, 11 April 2008, 09:41 AM
Anyone in the world

By John Furnem Who Needs Obesity Surgery It is an undeniable fact that obesity has become a global epidemic and is wreaking havoc on our society as mortality rates soar. Approximately 30% of the general population is considered obese, but it doesn't stop there. An unprecedented 15% of young people are afflicted as well, leaving their budding lives scarred emotionally, physically, and psychologically. Contrary to the unbelievable number of claims for products that miraculously take off the pounds, there is no magic cure for obesity. However, there is an option. Obesity surgery is becoming increasingly popular despite the many side effects. Obesity surgery is only for those people who have a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or more or are suffering from a disabling condition due to excess weight. Morbidly obese people who are unable to lose weight by any other method often turn to this major surgery as a last resort. However, the younger generation soon may not have this option. Physicians are becoming very reluctant to perform obesity surgery on patients younger than 18 because of the lack of knowledge about the long-term side effects. The serious short-term consequences are a deterrent as well. The absolute minimum age recommended is 13 in girls and 15 in boys. The youngest patient on record who underwent obesity surgery was a 12 year-old girl. The rate of obesity surgeries has multiplied unbelievably with over 170,000 done yearly. There are no reliable statistics on how many of these were performed on teenagers, but a definite increase was noted. Costs for the surgery range anywhere from $15,000 to $50,000 (depending on the type), with the average being $30,000. If complications develop, obesity surgery may cost $65,000 or more. The effects, however, may be priceless for some. Adult patients lose an average of 70% of their excess body weight, while teenagers show even more promise at 82%. For a few patients, the results are devastating and the little weight they lose is quickly regained. There are 2 main types of obesity surgery: those that reduce the size of the stomach and those that reduce absorption of calories in the small intestine. Gastric bypass is a combination of the two and is the most common type done. All require a lifelong commitment to making drastic changes in eating habits and lifestyle. Obesity surgery is beset with many risks and for young people, this may mean permanent stunting of growth. 2% of patients die from the surgery and 40% develop complications within six months. Complications range from infection, respiratory problems and bleeding, to vomiting, hernias and stomach obstruction. Many patients develop anemia or osteoporosis in the long term and have to constantly take supplements. Obesity-related illnesses, such as diabetes, are often resolved, though. Considering only the short-term effects, young people actually have fewer risk factors in developing complications from obesity surgery if they follow all the recommendations. Overall, obesity surgery remains highly controversial. Many argue that the psychological benefits of feeling human again far outweigh the disadvantages, especially for teenagers. There is always the possibility of regaining the weight lost or developing serious complications. Much of the success of obesity surgery depends on choosing an experienced physician and complying with orders. Obesity surgery has greatly improved over the years and for many, those unwanted pounds have become a thing of the past.
